Nine years ago, Paul and I went to the Chamber of Commerce, and Paul’s company—then still called Paul Dijkstra Yachtbuilding—became official. What an exciting step it was to go into business for himself at the age of 23.
We spent all our savings on tools, and after the first week of work, Paul had to hand the client the invoice on Friday and ask them to pay it as soon as possible. We had no money left to buy petrol for the following week’s work.
We often look back on that moment and feel incredibly proud of everything that has happened over the past few years. We’ve had the opportunity to work on so many wonderful projects, and there’s plenty more in the pipeline.
