We built the hull for an ocean rowing boat on behalf of and in collaboration with Mark Slats. The brief was to make it as light and strong as possible, as they wanted to set a world record rowing it.
The boat was built in a specially designed mould that ensures there are no seams in the hull. It was made with carbon prepreg and a Corecell© foam core. The boat was 200 kilos lighter than the next-lightest boat in the TWAC 2020 fleet.
Mark Slat and Kai Wiedmer went on to win the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2020 and set a world record in the doubles category.
